Seymour Duncan JB + Fender Texas Special pickups

Hi long time lurker here. I just got my Fender Player Series installed with a JB on the bridge. I was planning to upgrade the neck and mid pickups as they "drown" with the JB (i know this is a known issue with HSS strats). I was thinking of the FTS pickups as i read that they are hotter than the stock pickups and well, i'm getting into SRV lately (I'm aware he didn't use the FTS pickups ). Are the JB and FTS a good combo? i'm into grunge, punk and old school rock but planning to learn some blues ala SRV as well. Thanking you guys in advance :)

Welcome to the forum!

Whole the Fender pickups are hotter, they still suffer from the same problem, although not to the same extent. In a case like this, you have to strike a balance between tone (certainly there are single coil sized humbuckers with similar output, but they don't sound like SRV) and output.
