Seymour Duncan new EXCITER pickup

Welcome to the forum!

The pickup isn't really officially out yet, so if you get yours, you would be the first person to get one on the forum. Which means you gotta get us a review!

I will do that for sure!... as soon as I get it installed :)

GC Special run maybe?

not sure about that, it's listed on GC, musiciansfriend, even target! lol... (not sure if they are related somehow)

I got mine from a store in san jose called "Vision Guitar" listed on reverb, it's a custom shop version though (no logo, wound by MJ)

Looking forward to hearing about this! The pickup doesn't seem to be available anywhere in Europe yet.

Local shop here in San Jose , Ca. says they have a black trembucker in stock . Part of me wants to snag it but I wouldn’t be installing it anytime soon

I found a custom shop version I picked up a few weeks ago as well. Just got laid off from my job around the same time too , so haven't had a chance to hook it up yet.
Hopefully this week. Curious to hear your thoughts!

So it has been a minute or two. Anyone try one of these? Is it's tone in the wheelhouse? Ballpark?

I chased the Lynch tone mid-80's and for not having George's fingers, a Duncan Distortion in my black Strat was passable. I figure it still had all the Distortion tone artifacts and that was enough to convince me.

Comparing the standard spaced versions, the Exciter targets 40 ohms DCR less than the Distortion. For reference the Distortion neck targets 2.6k ohms less than the Distortion bridge. I know, DCR is not everything, but it is a metric they provide. While I am on this hill, I will note I often ponder if someone's pickup in their #1 guitar maybe just had fewer/more winds than average.

Coming back to the herd, I would need whatever in white, would likely buy a Trembucker, so slight geometry and DCR change anyway. Back on topic, is the Exciter's tone in _____ ?

^ "Comparing the standard spaced BRIDGE versions, the Exciter...." (thank you 403 error for preventing me from editing this in)

Have you read Darth Phineas's review of the previously available Custom Shop The Hunter pickup? It's supposedly the same pickup and he gives some insight into what's going on with it.

Thank you for directing me to that! A very helpful review and it answers several additional questions I had floating around in my head.

I've not had the chance to try one but based on the details he talks about there I know I would love that in the right guitar, I just haven't had another guitar to tinker with! Glad Darth's excellent review helped, I peruse his site regularly.
