Hello Everyone!!!

This is my first post here, so excuse me if anything is out of line.

I need help! The pick up - Seymour Duncan SMB- 4A Three Coil - does anyone have a picture of it, how does it look from the "inside"?

I ordered a pickup from a local dealer, said I need it to have 3 coils, and what I got is this:

For me its a little confusing, since it should have THREE COILS, not TWO, like on this picture, which provides SD:

Can someone, please, explain it to me, how is that possible that I DO have a Three Coil SD, according to my dealer?

I did a little googling for you and it appears there are two versions of this pickup. The 3 coil version and 2 coil version(also available with ceramic magnet). I think your dealer may have ordered you the wrong version.

Thank You! My thoughts exactly, but I need some kind of proof. Does anyone have actuall photo of this pick up in three coil version?

your proof is that there are only 2 coils in your pickup. the 3 coil version has a very obvious 3rd coil yours is missing.

Thank You, but its not that simple, the thing is I have to convince the dude who ordered the pick up for me

so I need to have some definitive proof.

proof? one line of 4 poles = one coil. there are two coils in the picture, NOT three.

yeah you have proof. the pickup only has 2 coils. if the dealer wont do it just swap it out through duncan's 21 day return policy

I was a Vice President at Seymour Duncan for 20 years and I managed the Product Development Department at the time we introduced the three coil Music Man replacement. The pickup in the photo in the OP is not a three coil version.

The three coil version has a two stacked coils on one end. And one singe coil on the other. In this profile photo, you can see how the stacked coil protrudes much lower than the bottom of the cover.
