Seymour Duncan Sound Clips

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew what AMP/Cab and Mic they used to record the demo samples for each pickup?

Just wanted to replicate some sounds!

Thanks

Re: Seymour Duncan Sound Clips

It was listed on the page but it's 404'd right now. Some more experienced forumites could probably tell you the exact rig. From memory, a Marshall of some kind and a Fender of some kind (dirty and clean respectively) with a single close mic (probably a 57). I believe it was a JCM800 and a 65 Deluxe reverb.

The clips on the old site were recorded through a JCM 800 (2204 I think) and a Fender Super Reverb mic'd with an SM57. I don't know if they're using the same clips on the new site or if they've been redone.

I was checking out the samples on the new site and they appear to be different.

I had downloaded several when I was shopping & trying to make a decision for my Westone, and I also kept a screenshot of the page that told what guitars they used and amp settings... so here ya go, enjoy!

The sleeve notes on the ol' "Journey Is The Destination" sound clip CDs read, "For clean tones, we used an early '70s silver face Fender Super Reverb with stock 4x10 "blue frame" 'speakers. We kept the Bright switch on throughout. For crunch tones, we used a well-worn mid '70s Marshall JCM800 50w head through a new Marshall 1960A Celestion-loaded 4x12 cabinet. We plugged in to the High [in]put. Both amps were close miked with SM-57s through a Soundcraft Spirit Foloi mixer direct into an Alesis ADAT which was then mixed to a Panasonic SV3700 DAT machine."

AMP SETTINGS

CLEAN - Fender Super Reverb
Bright switch - on,
Volume 3
Treble 5
Mid 6.5
Bass 4.5
Reverb 2.5

CRUNCH - Marshall JCM800
Input - High
Presence 5.5
Bass 10
Mid 4
Treble 4
Master 2
Pre-Amp 7

That's right, Mr. Gregarious Nocturnal Wild Swine.

Full size 'buckers on a Gibson Les Paul.
Mini 'buckers on a Firebird.
P90s on a Special.
Strats on a Strat.
Teles on a Tele.

Some other permutations might have been nice. e.g. Traditional output humbuckers in an ES Thinline. Humbuckers in a Tele. HSS sets. ANY bass sound clips at all!
