Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

El Dunco

Sock Supplier to RHCP
I had a great idea the other day... We all do a collaboration super cover!

We nominate and vote on a song to do a cover of.

We get a bunch of people from the forum who do different parts of the song... Get someone who is primarily a bassist and has the best bass sound to lay down the bass line. We can either get someone who enjoys singing (me for example) to do vocals or have different vocalists take it in turns. We can take turns with the guitar tracks or better yet... Do a rhythm track each to make the ULTIMATE WALL OF LAYERED GUITAR and take turns on the solo(s)

Who wants in on this?

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I like the idea. It would have to be a long song. Probably around 5-7 minutes. You'd also have to make sure we/SD, doesn't get sued for using the cover.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

We'll get permission first. I'm a registered songwriter so I can organize that.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I'm down for vox and guitar recording. I'm definitely better vocally, but I can handle just about any rhythm part you throw at me.

This is an awesome idea! I can't wait to hear more.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

Over the past few hours I've discovered a voice in me that I absolutely love. I'll volunteer for a vocal track.

How about, since we are a forum of many tastes, we do a medley? Like the metalheads can play a portion of some iconic metal song, blues guys play a portion of a blues masterpiece, rockers play some good ol' fashioned rock song, and so on. We can create a super medley containing many genres that all of us can put our hearts into mixing and producing.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I can also do drums because I have a variety of samples that sound REALLY nice.

That's what it's all about, ideas.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I dig the medley idea. If we decide to do this I'll be tweaking my tone for days trying to impress you guys and then my playing will suck :lmao:

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

Necrobump because of forgotten thread. I nominate Black Sabbath - Supernaut. We could really do something interesting with the shuffle part towards the end.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

Twenty First Century Schizoid Man.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I'm in... vocals and/or rhythm guitar (I'm very mediocre at soloing).

I also dig the medley idea... sounds like fun!

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

Didn't Innagoddadavida take up one whole side of the album?

Edgar Winter - Frankenstein. That way at least the keyboard/synth guys could join in. Of course nothing's keeping them from it anyway.

What's more, it could be Frankensteined together; everyone who wants in goes through the whole song with whatever parts they want, doing as much as they feel like doing. Then the results are collated and chopped up into bits and "Frankensteined" together.

It'd be interesting to hear the "dun dun dun dun" part done once with bass, drums, and keys, then the next one done with chug chug chug chug, then the next one done with horns maybe.

Then there's the meedly meedly part of the guitar solo, where it switches between/among the various entries and tones.

^I like! It's definitely got enough parts to keep it interesting and is in the 5-7 minute range.
