Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I prefer an original but something long and awesome and easy to solo over like Zeppelins "Whole Lotta Love" would be fun :)

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I'm up for a solo (or part thereof :) ) ..as for suggestions, Gates Of Babylon is always fun, but I'm cool with anything..

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

How about a complete mish-mash?

1. Pick a genre
2. Pick a song that defines that genre. Maybe not "the" song that started it or cemented it, and not one that kinda weeble-wobbles in and out of it, but one that fits squarely inside of it and is always counted among that genre's "defining moments".
3. Pick its polar opposite genre.
4. Remake the song in that genre using the sounds (instrument and vocals) that define that genre.

For example, the Showtunes Classic 'The Sound of Music' done Metal (Dark/Doom/Black/barking dog/cookie monster).

Slayer does Karma Chameleon.
Snoop Dogg does Bohemian Rhapsody.
Johnny Cash does Ace of Spades.
Culture Club does Hangar 18.
Abba does Am I Evil?
Waylon Jennings does Closer (Nine Inch Nails)

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

Mercyful Fate does A Horse With No Name
America does Abigail

waitaminnit, there's a joke in there somewhere

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

The moment that the finished track were posted, the Admins would nuke it. (Unsuitable lyric content.)

Dude, there'd be beeps in all the right places.

Hacking up a WJ YouTube video to go with it though, that'd be fun.

And since we're here, what do we call this project? Genre Confusion? Seems to be going around lately

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

Just have somebody play a pinch harmonic over every time he says "f*ck." Problem solved.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I like the Closer idea. I've always wanted to do that song in a different style. We can just censor the offending words. Good selections so far, keep em coming.

Re: Seymour Duncan Super Cover?

I've always had this crazy idea for a Swing Band that was all guitar, bass, and drums instead of wind instruments. Or a marching band that was all guitars, bass, and drums.

Not so much doing Metal versions of songs like In The Mood, but certainly some distortion to get certain tones/sustain and to cover specific frequencies of trumpets, trombones, and clarinets.

7+ strings and basses covering the low-end of things.

edit: same number of instruments as a Swing or Marching Band, though. Like 8-20
