Do you hear a difference with the new plastic tuners? Not kidding;

A norwegian guitarist named "Marius Muller" had a custom guitar made with bass guitar tuners...

I've been wondering to replace the original metal tuners on my Wildkat with wooden ones,

if that would make a difference in tone;
or just balance.

This is not the one with humbuckers that I was mentioning previously, but you get the idea (for some reason I'm unable to load that image). But you can see that the strap attachment on this one is at the 12th fret and on an SG it is at the 17th or 18th fret. That makes a big difference.
