SG Special Wrap Around bridge questions

i have a Pete Townshend SG Special from the 2000/01 era run.... great guitar and i love it as is... plan to keep it stock as it's sopposed to be the specs Pete used during the Leeds era...

but just being curious i was looking at replacement warp around bridges with improved adjustable intonation... but all seem to have different stud spacing then the original SG Special bridges... which would be fine if i use one on a custom guitar... but makes me wonder why they don't make a direct fit

Have you looked at Pigtail's intonatable wraparound?

It seems odd to me. Are you sure your measurements are right? You measured from center to center of the studs, correct?

i'm getting the messurements for the stud spacing from stewmac.com on their various wrap arounds... but one angle i never thought of is maybe the studs themself are thicker on modern versions

What's the measurements between the posts, center to center, on your SG?

I mean have you properly measured the spacing on your own guitar?

Should be around 82mm. The Wilkinson with intonable G and B was a direct fit on my '60s Special although I didn't kept it, didn't look so nice and the intonation was still a bit off. I'm looking forward to upgrade to a fully intonable TonePros II. Same measurements as the Wilky so I'm not expecting any problem.

The tonepros looks really beefy compared to the other ones around.

The only ones that were off were the Gibson style wraparound with no intonation "steps". I guess is because those are intended to be fit on angled/offset studs. I didn't care as it was a downgrade from the stock bridge.

Ohh, that one looks really nice. The one I tried wasn't made by Gotoh and only had one adjustable section (G & B strings).

At that price I might give it a shot. The ToneProsII is a bit expensive IMO, at around $100.

I wasn't about to spend that much on a bridge. Besides, the guys at Precision Guitar Kits recommended it. One thing I really like are the locking posts. Once I got the height dialed in, I just had to screw down the allen screws inside the posts to "lock" them from turning. It's not really a lock but it'll keep them from turning downward at all.
