I have a Squier Telecaster with the stock single coil neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan 59'er in the bridge. With the stock 3 way selector I wired:
Neck - 1
59 Green - 3
59 Red+White - taped off
59 Black - ground
and all three positions (neck, neck+bridge, bridge) worked fine.
But I wanted to split the bridge humbucker, so I bought a Fender 5 way super switch and attempted to wire the pickups for both humbucking and single coil as follows:
Neck - 1, 2, 3
59 Red+White - 2, 4
59 Green - 3, 5
59 Black - ground
The switch I got has two wafers of 10+2 contacts but I am only using the top layer.
Now it sounds like I get a mix of the neck and the bridge pickup in every position on the switch. Does the Red wire have to connect directly to ground at some point? Or do I have some kind of soldering problem on the switch?
TIA
