Re: sh1 59 sample sound?

I dont expect too much difference between a 59N and a BBpro Neck. I have both in my parts box but did not compare them side to side.
You should also state what you are looking into with your neck compared to the BBPro neck!

euh sorry but my english is lite what did you mean exactly by:"You should also state what you are looking into with your neck compared to the BBPro neck! :onder:"

Re: sh1 59 sample sound?

may i not clear but the bb pro is on the bridge ,i'm lookin for a blues warm sound like (i know you gonna laugh) on a 59 lespaul humbucker, sounds gary moore bonamassa....on the neck for the solo for example ,is a real tonal difference between a sh1n and a gibson burstbucker 1.2.or pro??is that my interrogation?

Re: sh1 59 sample sound?

I thought you were clear enough....you have a BB in the bridge, but you want something "Blues-y" for the neck, right?

How "Blues-y" do you want? Very clean and mellow, or just a hint of "dirty"? I've found the best combination is mixing the neck and bridge, and playing with the volumes and tone controls.

One Guitar, an Epiphone LP with a Distortion bridge and Alnico II Pro neck, is hot and dirty when turned up, but can be harnessed into clean tones with the controls. Every tone is beefier, with more presence, with this set up in this guitar. It's dressed with 10 ga. Ernie Ball Slinkys.

The other Guitar, a Schecter C1 with a JB bridge and '59 neck coil-split, gives smoother tones, especially in pos. 2 & 4 on the 5-way switch, sounds very Strat-like. This guitar is half the weight of the LP, and double-cut, so it probably won't get to booming unless I put active pickups in. This one's wearing 9 ga. EBS's.

However, I'd like to try the hottest passive pickups I can find and give those a shot.

BB's have A2 magnets which gives them a different sound, with more mids & a looser bass. BBP's have A5's, which means more treble and output, & a tighter low end. I have '59N's in a couple guitars (LP & 335) and like them a lot. Cuts thru nicely & is good for solos. The two most popular HB neck recommendations here for mahogany are the '59N and PGN. You can't go wrong with either one. What do you have in the neck now, and what don't you like about it?

I play blues too, and like Gary Moore & Joe Bonamassa also; you have good taste. Those guys are excellent guitarists.

:)hi everybody!

then to focus on my case:

in you upper message told me about neck59 and PGN i suppose is the peter green pick up but to my knowledge the only peter green model is bare knuckles set(not the unity) and is very expensive,i know that wilkinson made a vintage icon lemon drop model with this out of phase pick up but not possible to have it alone(tou must to by the guitar:disappoin)

Re: sh1 59 sample sound?

By PGN Blueman probably means "Pearly Gates- Neck". It's a Seymour Duncan pickup.

While I have not tried one myself, I hear a lot of people really like the 59 model in the neck.
