SH6N with A2 Magnet, used in bridge...thoughts?

Re: SH6N with A2 Magnet, used in bridge...thoughts?

Around 12k with thin wire and alnico II should be kind of like a mellower, warmer Demon. I say do it.

Re: SH6N with A2 Magnet, used in bridge...thoughts?

Also, if using it in the bridge and flipping the pickup (to get the screw poles nearest the bridge, would I need to flip the wiring at the pot? or flip the mag?
to keep it same phase with the neck pup?

I will most likely add a nickel cover...is that smoother top end?

thank sgain

Re: SH6N with A2 Magnet, used in bridge...thoughts?

I tried it in the neck, but it was too buttery, with no top end at all. I swapped in an Alnico 5, and it worked much better. Trying it in the bridge was something I never tried though. It was a pretty good neck pickup with A5, though.

Re: SH6N with A2 Magnet, used in bridge...thoughts?

No need to flip any wiring or mags when you flip the poles around. As far as the cover's concerned, it depends. some cheaper covers are brass, which does dampen high end. Duncan covers are nickel/silver, and, IME, don't change the tone a whole lot, except of course for the slight difference in distance of the flatwork from the strings when compared to a non-covered unit.

Re: SH6N with A2 Magnet, used in bridge...thoughts?

like luke said, the wiring's the same.
turn it around so the screws face the bridge, like you said
it's great in the bridge with A5; A2 in that pickup is on my list of things to try. with an A2 i imagine it'll sound like a JB with better low-mid definition and better cleans
do it...

Re: SH6N with A2 Magnet, used in bridge...thoughts?

It will be a brighter, tighter CC, or a darker, more midrange oriented Demon.
