Shielding a split humbucker . . .

I was just wondering if it makes any difference to shield the pickup cavity that you have a split humbucker in . . . Does it reduce the noise when the pickup is split?

Re: Shielding a split humbucker . . .

Since a split humbucker is basically a Single Coil, you need to shield it just like you would shield a Strat or Tele with Single Coils. The Pickup will still not be as quiet as a a full HB.

For shielding ideas, check this site

Hope that helps.

I shield the cavities in my Les Pauls to make them a bit quieter when splitting humbuckers. You'll still get some hum, but it definately helps.
