Follow-up: I have an MXR 10-band EQ. I'll bring that to rehearsal and see if I can tighten up the sound of my tube rig. Should I put it before or after the preamp?

Try to put it up front, cut the bass a lot and boost the mid a bit. Then recover the missing lows from your amp eq.

Fiddled around with the EQ up front and inside the loop, settled on the latter. Let's see what the rest of them say come practice time.
