Should I buy this PRS Soapbar 2????

Re: Should I buy this PRS Soapbar 2????

Eh! Hard to say. I have played SEs before. Never impressed yet never disappointed. It would be to imagine PRS can do any wrong even in their cheap line.

I think only you know the answer to this question. So many factors come into picking the right guitar for you.

Re: Should I buy this PRS Soapbar 2????

Too expensive.

Two weeks ago I sold the same thing for $320 - with a Seymour Duncan Vintage Soapbar in the bridge.

Great guitar in general, but the P-90ties are smaller than normal and SDs only fit without cover.

Well what guitar would you recommend for me? I really can't afford a McCarty, Im in college so money is kind of tight.

I'm right there with ya dude, college is a ***** on gear funds thats for sure./

I'd say go ahead and get it if thats what you're wanting;, it's not a bad deal. Those things are awesome guitars, and I love the PRS fretboard and neck more than anything else I've ever played. Nice finish, and good sounding pups so they won't NEED replacement. Sure a replacement will be an improvement, but they'll serve just fine.

What happened to that other one you found like a week ago for like 260 or summin?

I'd pay a little more for that particular one, just because it's got the maple veneer, and that blueburst is kinda cool.

It's a lot of guitar for the money. Hard to believe they sell for around $400.

I decided not to buy it. I wish I would have now, I'm about to pay $100 more than that now. I do like this color better. I hope this guitar will have a different done than my stock american strat. Thanks for the advice.

Oops. I didn't want to discourage you. These PRS SEs are great. P-990ties are what I didn't like.

I would would buy a PRS SE with humbuckers in a heartbeat if I was tight on money. The sunburst models in particular look much better in real life than in a picture, so the used prices are even worse and the benefit bigger.

But as I said, you crack down on the price. There are so many of these floating around, you don't do any buy-it-now a similar nonsense. Wait for one straight for auction and you can get a humbuckered sunburst for $250.

Personally I've never really gotten along with the import PRS's.... They just feel so cheap to me.

I have never owned a PRS. I played American PRS's at the GC before, but not a lot. I own an american strat and mainly play strats, will i think a SE is crap if im used to my american strat???

No, just for starters they have a great neck and at least in my case perfect fretwork, smooth as a silk.

The cheap feel mainly comes from the thin bodies and the paint used which feels kind of plasticish. Not sticky, but just doesn't look expensive.

Re: Should I buy this PRS Soapbar 2????

Well I bought the guitar today for $350, with free shipping, so that cut $30 off the cost!!! Im very excited to see how this guitar will turn out. I will post pics and reviews when I get it.

Great link VegetableJoe! Thanks for posting it.

The PRS Soapbar SE seems like a great axe. I have a Singlecut SE and it's really nice. I really like it a lot.

Re: Should I buy this PRS Soapbar 2????

That PDF's description of the Soapbar II pretty much lines up with how I feel about mine. I just took mine into the shop yesterday for a setup - I couldn't figure out how to raise the action on the aftermarket bridge that the guy that sold it to me put on there, and a 10 guage string set was catching in some of the nut slots. I'm also having the bridge route widened a little, in case I want to add an aftermarket P 90 or HB...

but an A8 for one of the bridge magnets may just beef up the tone enough to prevent a replacement. I think the stock magnets are A5, according to my fridge test.

Re: Should I buy this PRS Soapbar 2????

I got the guitar in yesterday. I was shipped very professionally. Safe as could be!! I tuned it up and it sounds amazing! This is my first PRS, I am sooo pleased. Ill post pics of it later!

Re: Should I buy this PRS Soapbar 2????

Like any budget guitar, you really have to run the racks to find one that sounds really good, but they are manufactured to pretty tight quality standards. My friend has a Soapbar SE that he really likes and it sounds amazing.
