I believe the Wolfetones Marshallhead are superior to the Dragons. But the Marshallheads are unpotted, thus they will scueal on high gain settings. I play in a metal band now and I need the ability to get a good and fat distortion from the bridge pickup. I'm not a gain fanatic, don't get me wrong here. I also play a lot of different music, but the bridge pickup nevertheless needs to be able to put on a heavy sound.
I just don't have any experience with unpotted pickups so I don't know how much I can push the gain. I love Opeth's distortion btw, to give you a hint of what the bridge pickup have to be capable of.
3 alternatives:
1. Choose the Wolfetones and hope they work in my metal band (www.invain.org)?
2. Choose the Dragons, also get the 5-way toogle then.
3. Have the Wolfetones waxed. Any cons concerning this?
Btw, the Marshallhead will only work with a 3-way toogle.
