For someone who's never played a Mesa Rectifier amp, I sure am obsessed with the sound. Some pedals are marketed as having some measure of that tone. A few pedals actually have some. Do you have any such pedals? How close do they come to imparting some of that flavor? I realize that a pedal is not a cranked tube amp. Work with me here.

I have these pedals. For all I know, they could be different takes on a cranked tweed Deluxe, or a modified SLO-100. Something in that neighborhood.

Got one of these:

My amp:

The Triple Wreck is a cool pedal, it has a lot of bass and a nice grinding midrange. It works better with the midrange up a little bit for that type of tone rather than trying to scoop, although that works too. Extremely thick distortion tone. With the boost on it goes full-on Fuzz. It's actually a little easier to dial in than the amp, although the amp does a ton of different tones and the pedal is targeting a specific tone.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

Anybody else have a pedal or pedals to simulate, emulate, copy, spoof, parody, satirize, or otherwise evoke, invoke, call to mind, or reminisce about... a Mesa Rectifier amp?

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

That wampler needs black or chrome knobs and silver/grey script,,,,,,,since they're going this far already lol.
I'd love to have an abbreviated recto-pre in a pedal. (is that what the v-twin is?)

About the Wampler, tell Brian, I guess. Maybe he'll make a video about it. I don't think they could beat the screened-on tread plate of the Tech 21 pedal.

The V-Twin was intended to be exactly that. They also made a sweet rackmount version.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

I had an original V-Twin (#50) and later purchased a Recto. The pedal would get you in the ballpark, but still never really sounded like a Recto that was really cooking.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

I'm starting to think it might be a good idea for me to go play a Recto somewhere. Point of reference. Active humbuckers. Palm muting.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

I was looking at an AMT R1 or R2 the other day. It's supposed to be a non-tube copy of a Dual Rec preamp. I haven't played one in person, but the idea and the sound clips I've heard are definitely intriguing.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

I love the Recto sound in albums, and hated the Triple Rectifier when I recorded with it. Had it loud as **** and it didn't help.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

I have the v-twin pedal. it gets those brutal recto tones if you want them very easily.

That's very encouraging. I might use mine this weekend. With a Hot Rod Deluxe, possibly driving a couple of Vintage 30's.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

So, how would any of you compare the pedals to the real thing? I've tried the V-Twin, which I didn't like.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

I think you mentioned that a time or two. ;)

I run a Wampler Triple Wreck on the floor as well. I've heard some people say they think vvdxfd it's a bit spiky but I love it!!! Plus its about the only Distortionjjnm. pedal I've found that actually sounds good through a VOX AC...

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

^ Big points for running two Wampler Clarksdales. That hints at an artistic vision.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

You could've found a Single Rec used for just a little more than you paid for those pedals.

Re: Show us your Rect-O-Pedals!

There's always room for one more.
