Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

nuntius

Boogeyman of Tone
shred solo 02

ive left the link so you can stream or dl at your own choice

it was fun to do (i wrote the backing as well if anyone wants it)

but a biatch to EQ with that Piano... so i kinda left in the end. the bass drum is still kinda loud and the pianos a bit queer and the guitar a bit too buzz saw - but otherwise it wouldnt cut through the backing.

This isnt my usual style of soloing so im looking for pointers on how to improve it :D

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

i'll say the usual...

i'll check it tomorrow mate =)

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

Honestly i thoght it was great..Very nice playing indeed..and like the song in general..

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

... well, that was very ... interesting!! :D
Good thing Lee ain't here ... that would make him gag!!
I thought it was cool. Dimu Borgir is AWESOME live.
Other than the last note on some of the arps seemed out as well as the last note on the synth interlude at about 1:00, I thought it was very weird and cool.

yeah my arpeggios aren't great at high speed... sweep picking is one thing but i was trying to pick each note.

It was done for fun, turned out note wise what i wanted just my technique isnt high enough to pull it all off just yet.

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

Sounded like some really evil church music! LOL.

Sounds good man, some rough spots, but with time itll go away.

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

lol, i've got worse technically in the past month or so due to spending too much time sitting infront of the PC screen getting fat and not practising guitar...

That's what the summer is all about! LOL
In my case, it involves hanging out with friends and getting pissed ...
We call it running with the wolves!!! :D

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

That was cool nunti . . . from a purely compositional point of view though, you should put the high-speed run near the end. Build up to it, then let folks have it. ;)

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

thanks artie :)

Composition wise, guitars the worst instrument for me... I still dont have a clue what half of the frets are note wise. i know them on E and A and well thats it.. lol

I can play what i hear by feel because i understand intervals but if someone said quick!!! play me all of the C#s across the board i'd take a few seconds to figure where they all are.

Thats the hurdle i've gotta pass next..

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

listening to it now....

it's alright, i've never listened to dimmu borgir so i dont know what to expect. your picking out teh arpeggios whihc is cool

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

Well Dimmu has blast beats and insanely heavy guitars... my fave really heavy band.

Check out kings of the carnival creation, blessed upon the thrones of tyranny and Sympozium... probably not your style but I like it.

The influence is the blast beats and kinda the piano as their piano player does some nice chords in a similarish style on some tracks...

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

thats damn fine!
i like the piano, did you record that or is it extreme midi?
realy cool and original, i may find some of this crazy borgir guy, he sound yum!
the arpegios didnt sound hidious, were you palm muting some of them or was that acidental cos it sounded cool. if you picked each note twice for the arpeggios it would kinda add to the franticness! (i realy am talking out of my ass, i could never make somthing as cool as that!)
good one!

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

just listend to it again and those drums are crazy! is ther a stupidly fast doubble bass in there just rolling around on some parts? cool!

Re: Shred inspired by Dimmu borgir.. kinda

thanks:)

I can play the piano part... but it was midi (as were the drum):D

picking each note twice isnt happening at that speed, not for me anyway! lol

yeah i was palm muting the bottom 3 strings on the arp's to give it more dynamics when i switched to the top 3

just listened again, realy do think it would sound cool with 2 picks, or you could (a fave of mine) tap 12 frets higher and pull of to each note. kinda gives a cool wierd sound (you couldet mute the strings though)
