Silver wire between EMG pots not long enough :(

Hey everyone,

I bought a emg 81 some weeks ago, and i' was going to put it in now, but i have noticed that the silver wire that goes between the pots (not the black, covered, slack one), that has the green thing half way down the line (sorry i dont know what its called) isnt long enough to reach so i can put the pots in , its out by about 1cm.

To further describe the wire i mean, it looks like the wire you solder from the volume pot to the bridge to ground it with passives, except maybe not as thick.

How can i extend this wire and how should i go about doing it.

I hope my message made sense. I've installed passives before but not actives.

Do you mean the capacitor???
If it wont reach between the pots just solder on an extrra bit of wire (assuming you have some)

If not, you are going to jaycar in the morning to get some (assuming theres a jaycar in QLD; where are you up there?)

I'm in warwick qld, thats around 2hours out of brisbane.

And yeah the capacitor...

any specific wire that i'm looking for ? obviously exactly the same stuff that what the current stuff is no doubt.

Sorry i'm a big noob with actives and electronics i only have experience with soldering passives in etc.

I think i pretty much know what i'm doing to install this active i'ave asked alot of questions about it and i'm 99% sure i know where i'm soldering everything.

the amount of slack on this is absolutely rediculous :smack:

I had the same problem in my guitar actually. Someone else beat me to it but yeah, just take a bit of wire and solder it on to make it reach. Looks like you're almost done there! you'll be cranking out teh metal soon now :fingersx:

Yeah it's a simple fix, just solder some extra wire in there.

Haha, I just wish installing it was that easy for me when I did it, I had to extend everything by about a foot because my jack was in the uppper wing of my guitar but the cavity is in the bottom wing, obviously...that was fun, lol.
