Single Coil Bridge Pickups

I have a Strat that I am replacing the Bridge P/U. I have a Hot Rails and am looking for a more vintage tone. I have chosen the Seymour Duncan Vintage Strat Pickup, Flat (SSL-2).

Will I need a P/U specifically wired for Bridge in an SSS Guitar?
Do I need some type of Base Plate for more response?

I am hoping that I will like the sound of the Guitar when finished - I have recently rewired it several times and have not been able to get the Hot Rails to sound right (I think it is close to 20 years old -Maybe there is something wrong with it?)

Just install it and play it. You don't need a baseplate.

Welcome to the Forum!! :)

the hot rails wont go bad because of its age or anything. it should be a high output thick tone when wired in series.

the ssl2 will be a totally different beast than the hot rails. you dont need a baseplate but you can add one if you like. it will soften the high end response of the pup
