single coil for RG550EX

im getting a JB for my RG550EX (if the JB ever arrives) and then will still have stock middle and neck pickups. i play metal but i only really use the bridge for that i would like some pickups that would give a more classic 70s early 80s rock tone.

I would recommend the SSL-6 Custom Flat for the middle position in your RG550EX, got some nice results out of that one in H-S-H-configurations in guitars of the same style as the 550EX. Sure it depends on taste as well, but the SSL-6 performs real well in H-S-H's to my taste.
