Single coil help.

Hey guy's my name is Ryan, I have a PRS strat with 3 single coil pickup's in it, what I would like to do is change them with single coil sized humbuckers that still have that tradition single coil look (not hotrails or coolrails etc.) I would like to get a high output pu for the bridge and 2 medium pu's for the mid and neck but that is not set in stone, as sounds go am after a smooth clean sound something like the clean sounds Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton have for the neck and mid and for the bridge something with a bit more power not to much power (rock not metal have to many metal guitar's). I'm open to any advise eg. using single's instead of humer's so thanx. p.s I have a hotrails in the mid and a coolrails in the neck in one of my guitar's and ideally I'm looking for a softer sound than that.

Re: Single coil help.

I've had better luck with rails than the stacked pickups you're asking about - in particular Vintage Rails. Duckbuckers would be similar.

But Hendrix/Clapton is more of the vintage output (STK-S4?) then you could choose one of the hotter versions of the Stack Plus series for the bridge.

I'm more partial to vintage output singles and a good distortion/OD pedal (there's a number of good ones on the market - just need to match it to the amp you're using) than going for a hotter bridge pickup.

Re: Single coil help.

my suggestion would be to get the stk-s4 for the neck and middle with either a stk7 or stk6 inthe bridge.

the stk4 will give you those classis strat tones you want and the stk6 & stk7 are higher output bridge pups that still retain some stratty character. all these have the classic strat pup look
