Single Coil Identification....

image.jpg

Anyone know for sure what these are??? I was told that they were a like new set of SSL-1's but I'm guessing if they are indeed Duncan's than they are vintage SSL-'s? The problem is I've never seen vintage SSL-1's so I'm just not sure???

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!

Re: Single Coil Identification....

Yes, SSL-1 and R stands for Rhythm or neck, M for Middle.

Re: Single Coil Identification....

See, that's what has me kinda messed up..

The neck pickup has an 1M on it, the middle has an 1R, and the bridge pup doesn't have any sticker at all. Now the pickup with a M in the neck position & the bridge pup with no sticker both repell the one that has a 1R on it & is sitting in the middle of this set.

Could it be that I have two RWRP's instead of just one in the middle slot???

Re: Single Coil Identification....

My mistake its the winder initial. R for Connie Rocha and M for Martha Cameron.

Re: Single Coil Identification....

Aha, that would make sense...

Thanks my friend, I apologize for my ignorance! I'm familiar with the winder's initials being on vintage Duncan humbuckers but I didn't know if it was the same deal with vintage singles? When I saw the M on the neck pup I just got a little confused, that happens a lot these days!!!

Re: Single Coil Identification....

They actually appear to be APS-1's because mine are original from my '87 Pacer and also have that same sticker with a "1" on them. Would they have used the same "1" label for both APS-1's and SSL-1's?? Mine measure @6.1k neck and 6.0k middle if that helps at all.

Edit: i just looked and mine say "1LR" (lefty stagger aps-1's)
