I recently converted my SSS Strat (MIM 1994 model) to HSS configuration. The bridge humbucker is a Whole Lotta Humbucker (TB-18), and the neck and middle single coils are Fender Tex Mex. I wired them using the Suhr method, so that the bridge sees 500K values while the singles see 250K. Overall I'm pretty pleased with it, but of course I have this urge to keep tinkering with it...
I'm interested in changing out the Tex Mex pickups for something with a little more "sparkle." They've always been kind of "meh" to me, but I like that their output is reasonably close to the bridge humbucker, so that there is only a minimal jump in volume when I switch to the bridge.
Any recommendations? I'm hoping there are some single coil pickups that have similar output (or maybe just a little more) than the Tex Mexes, but with more of that Stratocaster bell-like tone. I don't really need super-hot single coils anyway, since the Whole Lotta Humbucker is not a particularly hot pickup to begin with, and I'm trying to keep the output levels between the pickups reasonably close. Plus I understand that the hotter single coils get, the less Strat-like they sound.
Thanks.
