"Single Coil-Sized Humbuckers" vs "True single coil"

Hi boys, I don't have understand the differences between this type of pickups.

In "true single coil" we can find SSL that have two bobbins overlapping, like hot stack plus that I can find in other category. What are the real differences?
Does YJF pickups have 2 bobbins because I read "tapped" or "full" in DC resistance column.

Thanks

I think is self-explanatory. A TRUE single coil like the (SSL line) have only ONE coil.

The others are STACKED HUMBUCKERS, (STK line) meaning they have TWO bobbins STACKED over each other.

The Malmsteen set are STACKED HUMBUCKERS.

All STACKED HUMBUCKERS are 4-conductor, so you can wire'em up in different ways allowing the "hum-buck" effect be present at all times.

HTH,

HTH,

If ssl-5 is real single coil, why i can read "Tapped: 6.6 k Full: 12.9 k"?

I was asking this same question a little while back. Apparently it means this type of single coil pickup has an extra wire connected somewhere in the middle of the coil windings which means you can wire it up on your guitar to use either the full coil or half the coil windings with half the normal output. This would then need an additional switch.

SSL-5 have single conductor wire, but I have seen on YT that is can be tapped too...

The confusion arises from the fact that people often use the terms coil tapping and coil splitting interchangeably, when they are actually different things.

Coil splitting refers to shutting off one coil of a humbucker.

Coil tapping refers to single coil pickups that have an extra output wire (the "tap") before the end of the coil. This allows you to switch the pickup between its full output and a lower output where the tap exits.

The SSL-5 and other hot single coils are available in both a tapped version and a non-tapped version.
