Single coil sound, hot and noiseless???

Hi gang,

Thought I'd check the big brains of the people on the forum.

Anyone know of a single coil pickup that looks like a standard strat p-up,

buuut....the damn thing is VERY hot and noise free too?

Fender makes a "hot" noiseless pickup but I suspect it's a bit wimpy. Maybe I'm wrong!!!!!

Any brand, I don't care. Three things!!!

1. looks stock
2. sounds damn hot!!!
3. doesn't hum like a muthaf%$er

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your fan,

hmm...the Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Solo, the Fender Noiseless Hot is pretty hot, or maybe a custom pickup from Steven Kirsting. Pretty cheap, and damn good.

Bill Lawrence L-290

Check out the listings on the SD main website. There must be something to suit you there.

The Virtual Vintage Solo I had at the bridge of my strat was VERY hot for a single. Really quiet too. It's not going to sound like a strat pickup though, which might or might not be a good thing for you.

Yep, that's one of the better ones out there. I believe Kinman makes a higher output model that's noiseless, but I have no experience with those, and they are very expensive. For $40, you can't go wrong with the Bill Lawrence L-290S...although the wait is usually anywhere from 4-8 weeks.

Great answers!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time.

LOVE seymour duncan, but until they make a hum-cancelling, very high output for standard strat pickup.

Its gotta be dimarzio.

Thanks again.

Seymour Duncan Hot Stacks :) I have one in my tele neck and I love it. It's quiet but still gets a hotter sound, with a little more midrange than the regular stack or single coil.

The only problem with this one is that it doesn't look exactly stock.
