alder or poplar body(not sure), maple neck/rosewood, kahler trem. rock and metal music to be played.

thinking about a JB bridge, need one single coil to go into neck position.
was wondering about the ssl-1 or maybe the quater pounder.

opinions?

Re: single coil to match JB bridge?

Both of those will work, and the Classic Stack, Hot Stack, Vintage Rails/Duckbuckers or any of the lil/jr series pickups will also be cool if not different sounding.

What do you want tonally from the neck slot, and are you splitting the JB in the combined position and is hum an issue?

Re: single coil to match JB bridge?

i really want the neck pickup for leads only, but some rythm work too, and i think i want a vintage type tone from that pickup. i have a coil split switch for the humbucker on the guitar, and i thought i could use it in conjunction with the neck single coil. i am not so concerned with hum. i play thru a fender blues deville 410, so i want at least one pickup with the vintage vibe. i also was thinking that the JB combined with the vintage sounding single coil would sound good.

I'd go with an Antiquity II Surfer.

Similar to the SSL-1 but stronger.

The Ant II Surfer is my #1 favorite Duncan Strat single coil.
