I know of the current 2015 Gibson Les Paul Junior. And that looks like a great guitar, I'm just wondering if there are others currently on the market besides this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I really hate to respond to my own post, but I found one and am more than open to any more than anyone else can also find.

PRS SE One Korina - although I haven't found one for sale yet...

Those first two wrap around stop tails look straight and uncompensated, I wonder how well that works out.

Close enough for Rock 'n' Roll.

I love DCs I always thought they looked nasty in cherry.

DC with p90's is still on my wishlist too. Not too thrilled about the 2015 version myself sadly enough.

Look for an Epiphone "57 Reissue" Junior. I had one, and it was fantastic. Set neck, all mahogany, every bit as good as the "real" Gibson one the store also had (a recent one, not a $5K vintage one!) Mine had gotten modded-the P-100 was replaced by a real 90, and also was turned into a "Special" (neck p-90) but other than that, it was full of Jr-y goodness.
I just searched on the bay and this popped up:

Although this guy might be on crack or something-you can get a real Gibson for what he's asking, and this one has a repaired headstock break... so maybe nevermind.
(And maybe I should have asked for more for mine when I sold it!)

and a big +1 on the Precision LP-Jr kit, those are just about perfect as long as you're OK making your own.

Re: Single P-90 Gibson Les Paul Junior Type Guitars

Can anyone tell me how you set your action with p90 guitars? Since the soapbars and dogear's arent adjustable like a humbucker or single coil?

Re: Single P-90 Gibson Les Paul Junior Type Guitars

Soapbars are just as adjustable as humbuckers, using exactly the same method - two screws with springs or tubing.

Dogears usually have small shims you stick under the mounting tabs on the sides.

So the action becomes the same as any other guitar - set how you like it.

The screws in the middle of the pickup? Just googled it, never notised them before, thanks :)

Lots of them are mounted with foam "blocks" underneath, so just screw them up (or down) to adjust them. Both the dog-ears I had, the screws only held down the COVER but the pup itself was kind of held up against the cover by the foam underneath.

Re: Single P-90 Gibson Les Paul Junior Type Guitars

I'd look for used Gibsons from about 12 to 25 years ago. I have a 2001 sunburst model that is an unbelievably great axe. I've had it since new, and it was only $650 then. It'd probably go for about that or less on the used market now. If it still has the factory fretwork and nut, it'll probably need the frets dressed and the nut replaced. Mine sure did. But it was still well worth the money for one of the greatest guitars I've ever owned.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference between a junior special and a melody maker?

It depends on the years of each model as Gibson often changed specs on some models that could make them more or less similar to others. Traditionally the Jr. has a slab body with a single P-90, the Special is simply a two pickup version of the Jr. The Melody Maker when originally released was similar to the Jr. but the body was thinner, the headstock was different, and it had a pickup that was unique to the melody maker line, also the Melody Maker D was the two pickup version.

Melody Maker D

I think that covers the main differeces, but anybody feel free to chime in with things I may have missed.

Ps. In the original 1959-1971 run of the MM, there were three body styles. 59-61 was single cutaway, 61-66 was double cutaway, and 66-71 was an sg body style.
