A bridge P-90!

I'm with Big Black on this one (who changed his pic....he had the coolest pic here I thought..anyway)....

I'd go a bridge P-90, and make the strat out of mahogany, and the neck out of mahogany....it's a les paul jr./strat hybrid!!! :)

Re: single pickup Strat

SRV actually had a "reverse Esquire" one-pup Strat with a neck pickup of course. I guess since I;d only have to buy one pup it would be an Antiquity of one era or the other. A P90 in the bridge might work, too, but I'd probably sell it for an Esquire with a hot Tele lead pup instead.

IIRC it was also hollowed out underneath the pickguard (for a "Bell like tone"). I think it ended up getting stolen (don't quote me on it though).

Yeah, he played a yellow one when he did the Collins Shuffle in Montreaux. Awesome tones, i think the pickup was a 50's, i'd probably go for an alnico 2 single, or a Texas Hot Custom bridge, but in the neck position!
