SL2H owners...Is it True???

Re: SL2H owners...Is it True???

I don't know if it's an SL2H thing. My SL1 Soloist headstock is heavy compared to my Dinky. Might even go as far as to say a little unbalanced. I think it's the ebony fretboard vs mahogany, and slightly thicker neck, but I'm not sure.

Only if you encase it in concrete ;)

It´s actually perfectly balanced (usually, but there are always a few bad apples), but simply designed to hang a bit differently.

A Dinky is designed to hang about like a strat, more or less "level", the top edge of the headstock at about a 45° angle to the ground. A Rhoads is designed to hang in a more classical or "shredder" position, with the top edge of the headstock more or less parallel to the ground. For some reason, Dinky´s seem to like this position as well, but please don´t ask me why) The Soloist is designed to hang more or less in between.

to test the balance of a guitar, hang it around your self normally with the strap in playing position. Let go of the guitar. Take a bow and return, do NOT touch the guitar. If it´s in the same position, the balance is fine. If the headstock sings toward the floor, take another bow, from this position. Does it sink further? theen it´s head heavy. But if it stays, its just a matter of either your strap being too long or you holding the guitar slightly "off balance" out of playing preference. I have this on my Model 6, for example. I prefer to hang it lower for more brutal and pummeling work, and when I first let it go the headstock drops a few inches. But if I take a bow, it´s right wher it was ;)

I've never found the Soloist, or any Jackson, to have an uneven balance ... but I'm a Wayne/ESP guy, so my exposure is limited to playing at Guitar Center; though, if pressed, I will have to admit that the most balanced guitar in my collection is my Jem ... sorry, Zerb, I know you hate Ibanez!
