Slanted Humbucker

My Focus 6000 is supposed to arrive tommorrow!!!! i know the bucker is slanted to line to poles up since trem spaced pickups werent around then. When replacing the pickup, should I go with a standard spaced bucker? Prob wouldnt hurt to run a Trem spaced one in there right?

For the best string alignement w/ a slanted bucker. Use a standard spaced!

It's maple so I'm going to put a Demon in it. I have a distortion going in another project that's coming in though!

Well, yeah, like Brent said, a standard spaced humbucker is what came in them and would line up but in all honesty, it doesn't matter. The CC in my Baretta is tremspaced. Lines up perfectly fine.

Brent, you better be sharing pics of that baby when it's done.

Boys, my new toy is here!! Very nice!! Excellent shape! small ding on front and alittle rash on the back but obviously well cared for. Almost no noticable fret wear. Happy, I am. came with tools and trem arm, and ugly, but effective hard case. Appears these babys Listed for $799 new.. Ouch! He said he paid $680 for it.

Upon further review, Ive found some fretwear, but nothing to whine over.
I dont have digi cam.. Once I get her set up and cleaned, Ill try to borrow one.

The whole purpose was to make the outside poles of the pickup line up with the outside strings. This was before tremspaced pickups were available. Angling it made at least one pole from each side line up and the rest just fell in line.

YUP YUP YUP YUP! I concur. But I need to throw in an extra .02 here. To my ears, there's a definate tonal difference between a non angled and angled buckers.

Angled buckers seem to be a bit thicker w/ a little more growl to them. Whilst the non angled buckers retain that traditional bright "springyness" (depending on your choice of pickups, that is)!

The purpose was to line up the poles as noted above. But, if you think about it, slanting the end of the bucker toward the middle would put it closer to the "boom" zone of string vibration and therefore would give it more growl. Same reason of having to lower neck pickup so much to balance.

also, I've yet to test my angled bridge HB but it probably sounds more like a strat bridge pickup when tapped

Sounds like when I order from Warmoth, given I'll probably use a Jazz bridge, that an angled slot would be worthwhile then.
