Slanted v. Regular Humbuckers

Which do you think sound better? Is the slanting of the pickup going make the lower strings louder than the higher strings? Will coil tapping make the guitar emulate a stratocaster sound better if the pickup is slanted like a stratocaster?

Re: Slanted v. Regular Humbuckers

A pup of a given height gets louder when it moves away from the bridge because of the increased size of the strings vibration (more amplitude). The effect is more pronounced the closer you are to the bridge. You don't have to move far from the bridge to hear a big difference. form the middle to the neck, much less of a change occurs.

Yes - the bass will be louder, so yo drop the bass side a touch to compensate.
Yes - it will sound more stratty depending on the pup.

Slant pups up at the neck do very little - but you can see why they might try it. The goal would be to put a little more treble on the neck pup. A reverse slant bridge pup fattens the treble and keeps the crunch. don't see that much though.

Re: Slanted v. Regular Humbuckers

there's somewhat minimal difference in slanted humbuckers. you can hear the difference between picking straight across the strings 7/8" from the strings and 1", but like i said it's minimal. what aceman said pretty much summed up what i was about to say.
