do you guys know anything about "custom wound" slash pickup versions of the APH-pickup? i guess he uses the stock modells, doesn´t he?

Re: slash Alinco II pro

Welcome to the forum...this topic has been discussed over and over again. Do a search on the forum and you'll find a good bit of info.

Good luck

Re: slash Alinco II pro

thanks, so i searched a bit and found some threads. so, there ARE custom shop slash pickups. is it just a promo-thing? just for marketing? whats the difference?

Re: slash Alinco II pro

The CS does make a "Slash" model most if not all the info is on the forum somewhere but the basic deal is that they are just like off the shelf A2Pro's but I belive they are single conducter and I belive that might be the only real difference...that and the price tag!

Re: slash Alinco II pro

okay guys, just found the answer by myself.
for those who care:

20 gauss wire
neck 7.5´
bridge 8.55
a little hotter that stock aph1's
tall legs instead of the shorter sd legs
single conductor
scatter wound
aged parts

seems to be very needful for me :)
the price doesn´t matter anyway in this case...

Re: slash Alinco II pro

i don´t know what 20 gauss wire is... also if its special.

anybody tried them or maybe compared the stock models?

Re: slash Alinco II pro

there is no 20 guass wire...the magnet strength is 20 guass and it uses 42 awg wire. Other than the long legs, single conducter and slightly aged parts they are the same specs as A2Pro's off the shelf and FWIW, Slash uses the off the shelf versions!

Re: slash Alinco II pro

I have a set of stock APH1s, how much would it cost for me to snd them to the custom shop and for MJ to put and aged magnet and to scatter wind them? Both of these things have caught my interest over the past few weeks.

I was actually thinking of ordering a S deco 5 scatterwound, but I think I'm gonna wait untilI have a different guitar to put it in

Re: slash Alinco II pro

Dasfonzie, this is a whole new pup then. You dont save money this way!
So sell your stocks and go to the CS.

Re: slash Alinco II pro

A rewind from the CS is $85 a magnet swap is $20 that is $105...a brand new pickup from the CS runs from$140 to $160 so it would be saving money for sure.

Re: slash Alinco II pro

I'm guessing he has the aged parts for maintaining that worn in look like on his 50s pauls.

The fact the bridge is wound a little hotter is very interesting. My A2P bridge was wound to 8.2. I was able to get some pretty close tones.

thank you very much

Re: slash Alinco II pro

Sounds like the neck is a little cooler than the regular A2P which is supposed to be about 7.7k.

For the record, Evan says that NO Duncan pickups of any kind are scatterwound. That might be a smokescreen but Evan strikes me as a straight up guy.
