Would slash's tone, on both appetite and use your illusion 1&2, have been made with vintage 30 speakers or something else like greenbacks?

He uses 4 Marshall 4 x 12 cabinets, 2 straight cabs stacked on top of 2 straights, and all are loaded with 70 watt Marshall/Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. The two top cabs are driven by two separate JCM SLASH signature amps dedicated to his clean sound. Similarly, the two bottom cabs are driven by a a pair of SLASH signature heads set for his distorted rhythm/lead tones. SLASH has a fifth 2555 solely for use with a Heil Talkbox.

Vintage 30's in a 4 x12 sealed Marshall cab have smoother highs and more bass than when a Vintage 30 is used in an open back combo amp. In a combo amp they can be to bright and present for some people. I don't feel that way, I think the Vintage 30 is one of the best guitar speakers ever created. But some don't agree. For those folks, the G12H30 might be a better choice. Same magnet as the V30 but the cone gives more bass, fatter/chunkier mids and smoother highs. Lew

The g12h30 is only a 30watt speaker isnt it? As compared to a 60watt vintage30?
