NO TALKING. Learned my lesson.

I think this turned out real well barring some of my stupid playing mistakes. Sounds alot more like the real deal than a modeller anyway.

slightly breaking up Class 5, with Distortron as a mild goose. 335 with Duncan A2P Slashers.

always watch that initial volume, the camera mic input has to compensate...this thing is danged loud in the house.

Dig it - is there really a phaser going on? Doesn't sound like it but maybe it's adding some magic?

Thanks for giving it a listen, Bro.

Sorry, the OB was in the chain, but I never clicked it on. Just being thorough :D

Yeah, I think I might need to pick me up a Class 5.

The more I hear that guitar with the Slash pickups the more I think I might like those in my 335.

Yeah, I think I might need to pick me up a Class 5.

Keep in mind the V30 and especially the Distortron (box of rock mode) is providing the balls here if not all that much gain. The Class 5 is around 10 oclock on the volume, a nice malcom style slight clip...all tone knobs are dimed. Distortron is a bit past unity, and gain around 10 oclock as well. Not much gain going on at all...well by todays standards anyway. And less than I typically use.

Its also pretty damn loud in the house. Too loud for anyone to be inside and be able to deal with it.

It is no secret , especially to you, that I have had a love/hate affair with Duncan pickups for much of my life, and I generally rip hem out within days or sometimes even hours. These are the first set I have been completely satisfied with in 20 years. They are a real step up from typical Duncan production line stuff.

Yup. The Slash neck is easily one of the best neck pickups I have ever used. It's so perfect in Franky that I'm not changing it out.

Brotha man, if I can't handle a 5 watt amp cranked through a 1x12, then I need to pack it up and call it quits lol. Now that my quest for Mesa is nearing completion, I'm looking for some good quality Marshall tones. The problem with that is, most modern Marshall amps make me want to beat my face off a stucco wall. The new Slash combo is definitely on the list, and the more I hear the Class5, the more I want one. The DSL just isn't doing it for me anymore. Of course, that could have been because it had a power tube failing, but that's beside the point and we won't let my wife in on that little secret.

:D I know YOU can handle the volume, just did not know what the reason was you are interested. If you were looking for a low volume amp.for when the family is around, I was trying to get the "not a good choice for that" point across. The combos have been discontinued apparently,.and drying up..prolly wanna check out the head version. New tubes are a good idea. Mine came with a jj el 84 , and a jj ecc83 in the v2, and some unknown high gainer in v1. All marshall branded. I ended up putting a softer el84 from JJ, and the JJ ecc83s'.softened the buzzyness quite a bit. Its still a bit buzzy with everything but the A3 broadcasters in my Tele..those smooth out all the strident tones. The v30 helped alot too..added presence and complexity to the midrange the amp does not possess all on its lonesome.

Sounds awesome, although I can hear the acoustic sound of the strings a bit too much. Can you mic the amp up separately maybe?

Thanks for giving alisten, and the feedback. Its a camcorder mic. It picks up everything..I could probably step outide the room and diminish that if not eliminate it. I have a new delay pedal coming this week. I will try it out with that and cut a clip.

Ha! They don't need to sleep! The new Mesa head I just got has a power amp defeat on it w/ a headphone out that sounds surprisingly good! What I find so attractive about the Class 5 is A. They're pretty reasonable on the used market. Like $2/250 used. B. Despite their shortcomings stock, most everyone that has tinkered with them have found ways around them. C. Who doesn't want a mini all tube Marshall? If I can make one sound like you got yours to sound, I'd be happy cuz that's exactly why I would buy it. To get the DSL to sound like that, you gotta be moving some air. That tends to turn the wife into Medusa.

Lol.

Yeah,.despite its shortcoming, it is the most practical way to enjoy a cranked NMV Marshall. I def suggest letting the amp start to.crunch a bit and then hit it with something Marshally,.or a clean boost..in fact my Mooer Flex boost makes for a.really great tome as well. When you start jacking the amps gain too much it starts to get buzzy and strident. It does not get louder past 10 oclock, just gainier.
