Slotted Screws - PAF Pro

Has anyone tried putting slotted screws in a PAF pro. My reason for doing so is a little stupid in that I don't like how the allens. Course then there would be two rows of screws and I don't know how that would look. So my question, how would slotted screws effect the sound? Pros? Cons?
How about in a Super Distortion?

Re: Slotted Screws - PAF Pro

You can't put them into the Super Distortion without modification. The baseplate doesn't have any holes in it, there are no keeper bars in the pickup, and the bobbins are two slug bobbins so the holes would have to be filled and drilled.

In the PAF Pro it should smooth it out a little. But mostly because our slotted screws are longer than Dimarzio's allen screws, so the magnetic field is elongated.

i had a look at mine and the PAF pro's pole screws are thinner than the ones used an a superD; can anyone confirm if they're the same thread size as duncan fillisters/allens?

they are not exactly the same thread.
to the original question using DIMARZIO slotted screw poles(Duncans are longer) to replace the stock hex poles is a retrofit. The paf pro will have a smoother less focused attack. It will also have more output due to the greater metal mass of the screw poles.

regardless of the look - it will change the sound. Only you can decide if that's a good thing

Re: Slotted Screws - PAF Pro

super distortion pickup uses 2 slug bobbins & Allen set screws without any head i think the size is M5x 14 mm , i do find they fit better than the similar SAE 10-32 x 5/8 "
As for PAF PRO it uses a Allen screw with a head i do believe its 5-40 or M3X20 MM screw that protrudes through the bottom of the baseplate
i do believe they are screws similar to these
