Has anyone tried slowing down music in learning how to play guitar? I started using song surgeon. Has anyone tried this? Please share tips on how you get a good progress with slow down music software.:headbang:
I use Transcribe! Which is a fantastic piece of software that not only slows it down for you but can help identify tricky chords and passages for you. I highly recommend it and it's fairly cheap.
I downloaded the demo for song surgeon, haven't paid for it yet, but yeah it's great. I'm using it all the time in my new project to transcribe vocal melodies
When I had a Digitech Jamman, I would connect an iPod to it and record the part that I was trying to figure out and loop it. You can also slow the tempo down pretty easily. It worked great.
I put the speed selector lever on 16, then transpose once I have learned the relationships of the notes. But there are some newer DJ turntables that will let you do it while keeping the pitch unchanged. I've been meaning to get one of those for years.

I got Song Surgeon too! Researched a lot, DL'd the demo, bought the Pro version and haven't looked back.
It's incredibly versatile, I'm finding it's like a mini-studio. Even takes files directly off YouTube. Clarity is kick-bootay even when running super slow.
Definitely give it a test drive before making a final decision, but no matter what brand you go with, slow downer software is a MUST!
