Slug in neck / Doom

Sup.
Anybody have tried put slug pickup in neck?

I play doom/sludge and have wery bright sounding ash strat. Couple of month ago i put slug in bridge and it sounds awesome. But for doom/sludge it's better to play on neck. So, any of you are expirienced with that?
Or maybe for doom/sludge you can recomend better pickup in neck ?

How about the slug neck pickup? It pairs great with the slug bridge. (Seriously am I the only one with one?) I would recommend the matching slug neck pickup from the custom shop.

The first neck pickup that immediately comes to my mind for sludge/doom is the Gibson 490R. I think that is its best application. It's meant for classic rock/blues/etc., but it's too dark and muddy for that. I've gotten good Sleep tones with the 490R through a Marshall.

I think the 490R would be a perfect complement to your bright Strat. Slug in the bridge might overpower the 490R in neck, though.

If Slug works for you in the bridge, I wouldn't write it off just b/c it's in the bridge position. If it does the job, it does the job.

Someone else here recommended a Dimarzio Liquifire in neck for sludge/doom tones. I don't have experience with that pickup.

Josh Homme from Kyuss was known to play a Duncan 59 neck. It's PAF output, but when you tune down to C (I think) and play through bass cabs, it will level houses.

Someone else here also mentioned, and I agree with this, that for sludge/doom there are different ways of getting to a desired heavy tone. You could have high output pickups like the Slug, or you could have a killer amp. A lot of the sludge/doom guys get their tone from their pedalboards, with so many great fuzzes being available today.

There is no right answer - except for the right tone. What comes out of the speakers is what matters the most.

Incorrect. Contact the custom shop. There is a neck model. I have one.

Ok, got it.
What the difference between neck and bridge version? Did you compare it?
Cause I want to put Slug from my bridge to neck and see is it a good idea =)

The neck is a lower wind, (still quite high) and it complements the bridge. Personally I don't think the slug bridge in the neck would have any definition at all and would mush out.

I have a little problem with english, so haven't fully understood.
You think bridge slug in the neck will be ok or not?

I think it will sound undefined. So I would guess bad. The neck position has a lot of bass and string energy. I think the bass would entirely overwhelm everything and it would sound bad.

The slug neck is actually the Toni iommi/Scott Ian el Diablo from what I've been told.

Incorrect. The el diablo has an a2. The Slug neck is ceramic. At the very least the mags are different.

I also don't believe they had the same resistance. (I could be wrong on that.)

I have an el diablo as well. I also have a one off el diablo with ceramic mags. I can compare it to the slug neck. If it is the same pickup I have two full sets of slugs.
