When is this Stack-plus pickup going to be available? Can anyone give me a discription of what they are supposed to look and sound like?

Re: SM Stack-Plus (STK-S4)

Should be out this year is what I heard last...they sound VERY close to vintage style Strat pickups w/o the hum, they look like normal Strat pickups, the covers can not be taken off and they say Seymour Duncan on the covers.

That blows the idea of having a standard looking Strat.

Can the name can be removed somehow?

I am not positive that the logo will be on there but the 2 sets I tried out did say Seymour Duncan on them...if you want to remove it Braso does the trick!

TGWIF, I hope you can answer what I asked in the other post.

what's the difference between a stacked single coil design and a two-blade side by side design? i've been wondering this for a while. here is where that question's coming from: I was playing with my strat thru some distortion and overdrive pedals. of course it's hum cancelling only in #2 and #4 positions. and when I switch it to bridge only or neck only, besides the humming noise the tone is actually not very good. it has a scratchy feeling to the tone. so I started wondering when you use a good stacked single coil and play it thru some distortion does it sound like #2 and 4 with the smoothness or more edgy but without the noise. I do know that two-blade pickups are quiet and full because two coils are in series. could somebody comment on the tones of the up and coming stack plus with distortion?

All the single coil-sized humbuckers are wired in series, except the Duckbuckers and Vintage Rails. They all have their subtle nuances. Listen to them on the Soundbytes page to make your comparison and decision.
