Small practice amp debate

I'm sure it has come up a million times, what is a decent small practice / dorm / livingroom amp, so I thought I would throw in my two bits on the subject.

Having been through some really nice stuff, I'm going to admit that a vintage Fender Champ ( or Victoria clone ) is right up there, but I thought I'd mention my enthusiasm for the inexpensive Line6 15 W combo to fit this bill.

Consider this : little / no warm up, trivial ( if any ) background, turn it down as low as you want and get decent OD / crunch etc., extremely cost effective. I don't really like the tone for a full-on main amp, but bang for the buck, I like the small ones alot.

I've been playing my 15 W late at night in my little apartment ( turned about all the way down ) and haven't been shot yet. Coincedence ? I think not.

i bought a champ 600, fenders new reissue type thing, and i really dig the sounds out of it while i'm at home for the holidays, but i am afraid that, with one channel and no MV, it will be a little loud once i get back to my apartment. BUT, it was only $200.
