SMB-4A - weak G string

Just bought this pickup and the D and G seem weak - more so the G. I'll play around with pickup height but is there a recommended height I can use as a starting point?

I have mine at 3 dimes below the strings.

Maybe you have a used one and it has de-magnetized magnets on the top end?

It's a new pickup and I don't have access to a dime. I'll try Google but if you could tell me the thickness it would be a great help.

A new set of D'Addario EXL165. They seemed balanced with the old Wilkinson pickup. I'll play round with the pickup height.

Is that the high-gain Wilkinson?

I didn't notice a string volume difference when trying it and the SMB. Maybe you just have it at uneven height.

It's a no-gain Wilkinson - passive. It seems the SD pickup was too close to the strings. I lowered it and it's OK now.
