Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

My singer just scored on of these things. I can't believe how good it is, $300 MIC I thought it would be a joke. Full hollow, decent pickups and the faux Bigsby actually works properly. I was Nuge meets Setzer last night at practice with. Totally track one of these down if you are looking for a decent hollowbody for low change.

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

I have played a few of those new Ibby hollow's ansd semi hollows...killer guitars for only a few humdred bills...can't beat them IMO for a good low cost axe!

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

I just spent a few months tring every hollow body I could find similar to a Gibson ES-335, and I ended up buying an Ibanez AS83. What a great sounding guitar, and a fantastic looking flame maple top. There is no way I would spend the extra 1,600 for a real ES-335, even if I had the money. The ones I played were nice, but not THAT much better than my Ibanez, especially after I throw some Duncan pickups in it.

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

i should look into these! I've been wanting a hollow body like those for a while.... I don't think i could ever afford a real Grestch... but for cheap these look interesting

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

Ive got one similar[see sig] Its very easy to play, great actions especially from frets 1- about 8. Very easy to hammer on and pull off. Sounds pretty sweet too, but I'm thinkin of swapin out the pickups. They're pretty decent guitars for the cash.

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

I call it the Ronnie's Sparkly Guitar model but it is actually an AFS78TNBK.

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

Damned if I didn't expect a Bigsby joke!:6:

WhoFan they make one in a Gretsch Orange that is nice too. Drop in some TVJ buckers and you'd be right there.

Thanks... i looked into these at my local shop today... they retail between $400-$500 Canadian depending on model.... they had a bunch of them.. some thinner, some thicker models.. some with Bigsby copy, some hardtails..

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

I remember playing one awhile ago and it felt "mushy" to me. Can't for the life of me remember exactly which model, but I wonder if it was just the Bigsby.

My Epi Dot Studio has been getting a ton of play though. Probably go in for major surgery next week.

Re: Smokin cheap Ibby hollowbody

I forgot to quote MR.B !
It`s a ok guitar but i just don`t see it amung gibbys and gretsch.
(For the record, mine is a cadilac green AF75D built in 2001)

I don't think it is meant to compete with guitars in that price range but I'll tell you it kicks the crap out of an awful lot of import guitars I have played.

Skarey I wouldn't disagree about the mush on a lot of the Ibanez's. I checked a few semi's from them when he was looking for a guitar and a number of them had that spongy, mushy sound, like wet wood. This one though appears to be completely void of it and I can pretty much guarantee the store did **** all to set it up. Don't know if that changes on them with a tweak or not. I haven't owned an Ibanez in 20 years and I have hardly played anything other than a GB and an Iceman when I come across them. This one jsut jumped out for a bunch of reasons, tacky, funky sparkles an all.
