Smokin deal on a vintage Duncan humbucker!

Re: Smokin deal on a vintage Duncan humbucker!

I'm no expert, but I don't think thats legit. I just split an old "Seymourizer" Distortion neck for hybrids for Travis and me. The sticker looked way more faded than that, and just said "SEY". That matches what Duncan says in their pup ID chart.

That sticker looks brand new . . . as in made on a printer. I admit, I could be off base here.

Also, no SD baseplate.

Re: Smokin deal on a vintage Duncan humbucker!

Was the Seymourizer II used primarily as a bridge pickup back then, or was it a neck pickup like it is used now as DD-N? It does look a little suspicious, especially with the larger than normal white sticker and the way it looks like it was printed on an ink jet printer.

Re: Smokin deal on a vintage Duncan humbucker!

1. I didn't think they made a DD neck back then (could be wrong).

2. The pickup looks like it's in too good of condition to be 25 or so years old.

3. I don't see the typical wax residue on the baseplate and around the label.

4. He could probably get at least twice what the BIN is (especially in condition shown). Is he just a nice guy? Doubt it.

Also something funky is up with the baseplate. Notice how the sticker curves downward (The "Se" in Seymourizer II). Wonder what happned there as that would take A LOT of pressure to bend a baseplate (UNLESS IT WAS TAKEN OFF SOME OTHER PICKUP AND A FAKE STICKER APPLIED). I'd steer clear unless this guy can answer some of the questions.

unless he says he's replaced at least the sticker himself, i'd steer well well clear!
