SNS or Pearly or WLH?

Hey all,

Looking to replace the MIK Super Distortion clones in my BC Rich Mockingbird. Neck-thru with Mahogany wings and a maple neck, rosewood board.

The stock pickups are very good for what they are, but hotter than I like and I prefer the way low-to-medium output PU's respond to my pick attack. Also I want Zebra, and these aren't zebra.

Musical style is classic punk and hard rock, in the ballpark of Stooges/Motorhead/1st Danzig alb.

I'm 99% sure I'm going to be putting a Jazz in the neck. In the bridge I'm looking for something with vintage output but still has a little attitude. For lack of a better term, this is going to be my guitar for "big dumb rock."

Looking at:

Pearly Gates
59
Whole Lotta Humbucker
Saturday Night Special.

Any thoughts?

Re: SNS or Pearly or WLH?

The PG is EQ'd toward the bright side, and will match EQ-wise well with a Jazz. The Whole Lotta Humbucker does the 'big dumb rock' thing really well.

The Whole Lotta Humbucker is probably the best choice for what you're looking for, IMO. The '59 would work well too though, that '59 will get you closer to a John Christ 1st Danzig album tone I think.

Re: SNS or Pearly or WLH?

I have a '59/C Hybrid in the bridge of an all mahogany Fret-King Esprit 5, paired with a Jazz in the neck, and it covers that sort of stuff well.
