So Blueman....UOA5

I just recieved a pair of UOA5. Before I go a swappin', I have a couple questions for you.

Blueman, Is the UOA5 general output similar to the regular A5 ???

You have described the UOA5 as having a similar EQ curve as the A2. With that said. How is the bottom end compared to A2, tighter/looser ???

I did not really care for the A8, too high of output and too thick in the lower mids made it seem a bit congested. All of my thoughts here are with the Custom wind in mind. Out of all the combo's for the custom I found the ceramic the best, but it was still not for me, rather boring sounding IMO.

I'm hoping for a C5 with actuall mids. That would be about perfect.
Thanks.

Re: So Blueman....UOA5

The UOA5 doesn't have the same EQ curve as an A2, it has similar feel and dynamics however. The bottom end is tighter than an A2, more mids than an A5, a slightly brighter high end than an A2 but rounder than an A5.

If you are determined to have a Custom, but didn't care for the A8, then the UOA5 would be the only way to go. The ceramic mag Custom is very sterile sounding, imo, and the C5 is too scooped. I thought the CC (A2) was blah at best.

Actually, the only custom that I liked was the C8, but not in a LP. I only liked it in the bridge of an SG.

But if you want a C5 with mids, go for the UOA5.

+1 on C8 being bland in LP. I've got a LP thickness guitar made with soft maple/hard maple cap. The JB wasn't quite right, but the C8 was lifeless. I'm waiting on a bridge/tailpiece for my SG to see what its goodness is really like

+1. You took the words out of mouth. I agree with all of this. Good descriptions. Like you, I prefer C8's in SG's, and UOA5's C5's in LP's.
