So has anyone ever modded a Soundtank Tubescreamer?

I have an old one I'm not using. I always liked it as a boost but the switch was never reliable. I thought it might be fun to put the guts in a different housing with a better switch. Is this possible?

I've heard the Soundtanks are pretty much the same as the TS-9. Are there any good mods for the Soundtank?

I haven't but I would encourage it. I have read somewhere that you can make a Soundtank into a "real" TS pretty easily. I think it was on someone's TS mod page with a bunch of specs and mods. If you search around the internet you should be able to find something.

I thought about doing it with a couple of different Soundtanks - they are great-sounding pedals in really crappy cases. You'll need a big box, though - their PC boards are wider than a Boss case.

I sold a Daphon (the Chinese company that made the SoundTurds) overdrive to someone on this board. Outside, it looked just like a SoundTank, except it was bright yellow. Inside, it was an exact clone of a Boss SD-1, right down to the old-style 12-volt input droppog resistor/diode. It sounded great.

BTW, if anyone else wants a similar project, I have a SoundTank Phaser going cheap!
