So....I decided to open up my Lakland Custom 5...

Snickerdoodle Milk
...and Holy ****....look at that!

I pulled the neck pup out and it is Bass Lines stack 4 conducter..but there is no number on the bottom...maybe under the rare copper foil shielding but I have no plans to damage it.

Sent photos to Derek Duncan at SDCS for review.

My custom neck pup is still in the design stage but the CS needed a little more info and Ididnt want to send the whole bass to California.

To my suprise the Bartolini preamp has adjustable internal EQ..wow!

It's wonderful when you see something that a person took time to do properly!

This Bass model 5594 was made by hand in Chicago and the pups were handmade at SD Custom shop several years ago...The Bartolini preamp might not be entirely handmade...or the 9v battery.

Its now official...this original custom stack will be resting in the parts drawer until.

Derek and MJ have figured out how to make the Custom pup that I wanted for this bass with a non vintage tone and a tight articulate high end for metal. I chose ceramic mag linear...never before done at SD so they had to go to the drawing board for me...but they said my idea can be done.

I paid for it today and added the fancy copper foil shielding to match the old one.

Excited for this...it could be like the Black Winter for 5 string Bass...we shall see.

Look at that tiny little EQ mixer with the mini 4 band sliders!
