...since it's the Duncan forum and all.
I have a Jackson SLAT3-7 in Green Swirl.
It came with EMGs, which went right the hell out the window. (One went to the UK, actually.) My initial PU pair were Wolfetone rewinds of a JB7 and Jazz7, which is what I have in my main 7, a Jackson Custom Shop Soloist 7:
Unfortunately, the SLAT is considerably darker than the CS - probably because of the finish - and it couldn't hang at rehearsal. My first attempt to fix it was to swap the alnico mag for a ceramic, which helped but didn't get it there - the CS guitar is really bright without being shrill. I was considering both Suhr and Bareknuckle, but figured I'd have a look at the Duncan tone chart first.
Lo and behold, a pickup I've disliked in guitars before - the Full Shred - seemed to have the response characteristics I needed - lots of top and upper mids with a lot less low than a JB. So I ordered the bridge pickup for the SLAT, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the guitar hung in with the CS guitar at rehearsal. So, since someone I knew was selling the neck PU on another forum, I grabbed that, too. The pair works nicely together, with plenty of bite. So if you have a dark 7 string you need to brighten up, give these a try - they certainly worked for me.
