So if Audition sucks for drum editing...

What program would complement in that department? Are there any dedicated drum editing programs out there that would work well in ocnjunciton with Audition? I don't tend to finalize my drum tracks before recordign anythign else, so I'm a little annoyed at the idea of having to do all my durm editing away from the rest of the music, but I'm willing to give it a shot, I guess.

I found nuendo/cubase to be much more intuitive for that purpose but I was already addicted to adobe by that time and since I generally don't worry too much about drums(I leave that to my drummer haha) I just stuck with it for the time being. If you haven't really learned audition very well yet I'd definitely recommend checking out cubase and getting used to it. Sonar is also slightly more intuitive for this but not as much so. Apparently protools is better but I've got zero experience with it and... well yknow- you have to buy it and its hardware and then learn it so...

So you're reccomending using a different program period, not in conjunction with Audition? Fsck it; I'll just go back to ACID in that case.

Sonar = No. I've never enjoyed the interface of any of the Cakewalk products I've tried (and that includes Home Studio 8, Pro Audio 8, Pro Audio 9 and Sonar 1).

Well it's definitely possible to use adobe in conjunction with other programs- it even has a feature to make it easier to transport stuff between it and reason(sonar as well I believe) for example. Reason might be worth looking into but is tricky to download and I think you might be limited to the reason sample banks which aren't bad but not the best. If you're used to acid why not use it for drum tracks and adobe for mixing? Once you have the actual beats set you could export the files as individual tracks(ie- a track for toms, one for the kick ect) and do the heavy mixing there. Adobe is absolutely wonderful for mixing- just not so much for constructing drum beats and such. That way you would have the better interface for each application and be good to go. For the record I think the most believable programmed drums I've heard have come from cubase users and for a bit I did actually try to use it in conjunction with adobe but cubase has so many capabilities that it was a bit pointless and time consuming to need to revert to adobe.

Pro Tools is the be all to end all on editing. Which is why you will find many people who record using another daw dropping it into pro tools just for that purpose. LE has some good editing features, but HD is rediculous with the stuff you can do in it. I also must say that I've always like Nuendo's editing as well.
