So much worthless crap. Save the trees!!!!

Re: So much worthless crap. Save the trees!!!!

We all forget Danelectros were made of masonite! You don't need wood for a freaking guitar! Anyone heard those graphite acoustics?? They sound sick, not like a taylor or martin but they sound wonderful.

Re: So much worthless crap. Save the trees!!!!

Capitalism brought forth Ferrari, Benz, BMW etc...compared to Lada, Trabant etc. Free enterprise brought forth Guaneri, Stradivari, Steinway...

Just because someone also sells to the low end of the market :smack: ...we'd be better to blame efficient manufacturing processes for enabling a low end.

Many things that can be purchased easily our parents could not afford, because there only used to be higher priced versions available.

My parents have appliances they got for wedding presents 40 years ago that still work...while many of today's mass-produced equivalents fall apart after a year or two. You can still buy the high end long-lasting versions if you wish though, they just cost the way they used to in yester-year too.

There also seem to be plenty of buyers for PRS, despite the prices. Paul Reed Smith is rewarded for developing and manufacturing a product to a high standard. Good for him.

I agree that the "advantage" is that there is more good "middle of the road" equipment. By crap I mean the guitars that are sold by the boatload off ebay to people that just want an electric guitar "like *insert Hero*´s" without wanting to invest money nor research. Mostly those 50$ acoustics and 60$ electrics ;)

Aren't the vast majority of those instruments produced in China by Chinese companies?

Wouldnt it be amazing if the original people putting together the first guitars, using "cheap" woods like Alder or other reject furniture woods and using junk steel knew how badly we are craving that stuff now... and what prices we're willing to pay!

How does cheap Pine wood sound, anyway...just out of interest?

Ever tried Agathis? heheh

Nope...I'm a very un-techy musician...I prefer to get someone else to do the technical stuff for me...I can just play, that's all.

OK, ever played an Ibanez?

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. Buy 24’ of standard grade 2x2 pine, glue (8) 36” long pieces together and voila… Ibanez body blank. :D What’s sad is that this story isn’t that far from the truth for the bottom of the barrel Ibanez RGs from the late 90s. Biggest difference is they used a knot-free agathis.

Ah..ok, haha...

The only Ibanez I ever owned was a mahogany S series...

I did it all backwards - I bought a $1000 axe first then I bought a bunch of junk guitars later:laugh2:
