So tell me about Koch Amps

Can't find anybody remotely close that carries these. I'm especially interested in the twintone because of the wattage and various features. Anybody with experience on these - I am especially interested in what kind of tone you found with the distortion channel. Any comparisons to gear we are more familiar with or artist tones would be much appreciated.

Re: So tell me about Koch Amps

Paul Reed Smith plays through a Koch Multitone 2x12" I believe. If you can find some of the "Paul Reed Smith & the Dragons" stuff you can hear a Koch in action.

Send a PM to Aleclee, if he doesn't see this. He had a Koch and knows it well.
I only know my crotch well. LOL

Re: So tell me about Koch Amps

I owned a Multitone and the lead channel would go from a sweet Santana-esque tone to full scooped death metal. Though it could do a reasonable "brown sound", I didn't find its tone to be particularly in the modded Marshall vein.

Thanks for the input, not a keeper, though?

Archer_of_Fish has a Koch Multitone I believe, you could PM him and I'm pretty sure he'd comment on it for you.

Not a keeper. The clean was okay and the lead channel was divine but the middle channel didn't do it for me. When I played it, it was more pushed Fender and I really wanted more crunch. The Koch got bumped to #2 after I got my Soldano and I decided to sell it when my Rivera pushed it down to #3.

Amusingly enough, I sold it to the guy who sold me the Rivera that made it expendable. Last I heard, the amps we exchanged were the go-to amps for their new owners.

Re: So tell me about Koch Amps

I have a Multitone 50w 2x12 on order right now. I was pretty much floored by it so I had to have one. The best way I can describe the amp I played through was really open sounding. That's what I was after. Big smokey fat cleans to liquid sustain all without sounding too compressed but still maintaining a wickedly great feel. It really was a joy to play through.

Re: So tell me about Koch Amps

Thanks, very helpful on both counts. Either of you try a twintone or have feedback/opinions on how it compares to the multitone. I know about some of the different features (2 channel, built in attenuator). Am I correct in assuming the 2 channels are voiced similarly to channels 1 and 3 on the multitone, or no?

That's my understanding.
